Attitude Determines Career Altitude

Countless times in my seventeen years professional working experience, l have come to the realisation that, your attitude will determine your career altitude. Bottleneck abound as you navigate your career path but your attitude in dealing with the challenges that comes your way will separate you from the crowd. Challenges may vary from time to time and from one person to another, the underlining approach that surmounts every difficulty that comes your way will be your attitude to forge ahead irrespective.

The challenge that confronts some may be that they never even get started in their desired career path due to objections from Employers and will give up their career dreams on the basis of that. For some, it might be that stagnancy in their career path will be enough to throw in the towel and give up their career aspirations. For others, it might be due to redundancy from an Organisation which they have given so much to and are just generally discouraged about kick-starting their career with another Organisation.

Irrespective of where you are with yours, nothing less than the peak of your career is what you should be aiming for. While some may be satisfied being a low level employee throughout their career for reasons l struggle to understand, some are just not determined enough to move from middle level to senior level due to some peculiar challenges that accompany career ascension at the executive level.

In as much that l understand that not everyone is cut out to aspire to the very top of an Organisation as an employee and are just hanging in there to acquire the necessary experience to step out to be an employer of labour, it is worth the while to get the very best from your career path while you incubate your desired destination within any Organisation you find yourself.

This takes me to two critical keys that will drive the right attitude within you and will be great contributing factors that determine your career altitude:

1.POSITIVE MINDSET: Always make up your mind that you will achieve your goals as long as you are willing to do the needful. Be determined to do what is right to take you to your expected destination. Never take solace in the fact that some have tried but could not achieve their goals. Let your benchmark be those that are where you would like to be. Quit the company of the crowd that believes your aspirations are not possible.

2.STRIVE TO BE INDISPENSABLE: Develop yourself to ensure you are always sought after. Every progressive Organisation would hold on to employees that are adding value. As long as an Organisation remains a going concern business, the most valuable will always form the nucleus of the Organisation. Only retrogressive Organisations get rid of the most valuable employees for whatever reasons and you should not be there anyway.

Ten Values That Births a Great Society

Not everyone is cut out to embrace the family lifestyle but if you do, by establishing the right values into your offspring, you will be doing – Yourself, Lineage, Society, Nation and the Globe at large a great service of helping to bring about a better world to live in.

Be it Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Career Development or whatever areas of interest you are passionate about, it all starts from the home which further justifies the saying that, “Charity Begins at Home”. In as much as right values may be learnt at any stage in life, it is better right values are inculcated in the mental consciousness of a growing child and quoting from my favourite book, “Teach a child in the way he/she should go, he/she will not depart from it at later stages in life”

Family life is a great responsibility and it requires great Leadership skills to establish sound values which will be societal transforming. Gone are the days of “do as l say” but rather it is “do as l do” in the fast paced world we find ourselves today. If we look around us, moral decadence is at its highest rate and a lot needs to be done by those in the business of procreation to curb this negative trend.

Before l go into what is expected to replicate sound values, you will agree with me that we cannot give what we don’t have. Hence, we need to do a reality check of ourselves to ensure we possess the right values to pass on to the upcoming generation. If we don’t and are not willing to change our ways before procreation, then we are invariably compounding the societal challenges the world face today if we go down the family route. It is best to stay clear if not willing to do what is expected.

This takes me to the critical attributes requied to lead a family life of sound values:

1. Establish a clear vision that supports the right values

2. Take the right decisions, be it convenient or not

3. Take responsibility for your decisions and stick by it

4. Create the time to monitor progress of the values

5. Engage the intelligence of your procreation rather than instruct

6. Take an interest in what interests your procreation and guide accordingly

7. Play a key part in the development of your procreation

8. Be a strong influence of thoughts and attitude

9. Help to maximise the gifting of your procreation positively

10. Commit your procreation into the hands of whoever you believe in
